Job description
SENCO – Independent Primary School, Richmond upon Thames Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School information: This is a highly regarded independent primary school in Richmond upon Thames, providing education for pupils aged 4–11. The school is known for its nurturing environment, excellent academic standards and strong commitment to inclusion. Small class sizes and a child-centred ethos allow staff to know pupils exceptionally well and tailor support to individual needs. The school offers a rich curriculum that balances academic challenge with creativity, wellbeing and personal development. Pastoral care and SEND provision are central to the school’s values, and the leadership team is deeply committed to ensuring every child can flourish. Staff benefit from a supportive professional culture, excellent resources and ongoing professional development. Collaboration between teaching and support staff is a key strength of the school. SEND Provision: The school is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to lead and develop SEND provision across the school. You will oversee identification, assessment and support for pupils with additional needs, ensuring provision is effective, inclusive and compliant with statutory guidance. The SENCO works closely with class teachers, parents, external professionals and senior leaders to develop individual support plans and monitor progress. The role includes coordinating interventions, managing EHCPs, delivering staff training and promoting inclusive classroom practice. Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete) • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary or secondary setting • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice • Excellent communication and leadership skills • Commitment to inclusive education and child-centred practice Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
