Job description
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Stratford-upon-Avon, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children in their earliest stages of learning, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. The school provides a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where children are encouraged to explore, play, and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Staff work collaboratively, with strong leadership support and access to ongoing professional development. The EYFS team is committed to delivering high-quality, play-based learning experiences that meet the individual needs of every child. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning activities. You will assist children individually or in small groups, providing targeted support to help them reach their full potential, particularly in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional development. Key Responsibilities Support the EYFS teacher in delivering daily classroom activities Provide 1:1 or small-group support to children as needed Assist in planning and preparing engaging, play-based learning activities Observe and record children’s progress to support assessment and planning Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence in learning Support routines such as snack time, toileting, and outdoor play Promote social interaction and development of communication skills Work collaboratively with colleagues and other support staff Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience working with young children, ideally in EYFS or nursery settings Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic about early years education Understand child development and learning styles in the early years Be proactive, adaptable, and able to work as part of a team Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children The school is located in Stratford-upon-Avon, with excellent transport links and a supportive, friendly community.
