Job description
A supportive and well-structured 11–18 secondary school in Kettering is seeking a passionate Early Career Teacher of English to join its established department from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career in a school that genuinely understands what ECTs need to succeed. The English department is experienced, stable and highly collaborative. Schemes of work are carefully planned and shared across the team, giving ECTs a strong foundation while allowing room to develop confidence and personal teaching style. There is a clear emphasis on literacy, purposeful writing and structured discussion, helping students – and teachers – progress steadily. You will teach English across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to observe experienced colleagues regularly and receive targeted feedback. Mentoring is practical and supportive, focusing on classroom practice, behaviour management and subject knowledge rather than unnecessary paperwork. The school is rated Good and is known for its calm learning environment, consistent behaviour systems and strong pastoral care. Leadership is approachable and proactive in protecting staff wellbeing, particularly for those new to the profession.
