Job description
Science Teacher (Physics Specialty) – Leading independent day school – Manchester A prestigious and academically elite independent school in Manchester is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join its thriving Science department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to teach inquisitive, high-achieving students in a well-resourced and intellectually ambitious environment. Science Teacher required from January 2026 Independent day school with exceptional academic reputation Opportunity to teach general sciences to KS3, KS4 and specialism in Physics to KS5 The successful candidate will deliver engaging and rigorous science lessons across KS3 and GCSE, with potential to teach A-Level depending on specialism and experience. Students follow a demanding curriculum with significant emphasis on practical science, experimental design and scientific writing. The department is collaborative, research-informed, and offers generous resourcing including purpose-built labs, technical support, and access to external STEM opportunities. Experience and Qualifications Qualified Science Teacher with QTS or appropriate teaching qualification Strong academic background in a science discipline Physics Experience teaching high-ability learners and preparing students for GCSE and (ideally) A-Level Excellent communication skills and confidence working in a selective, fast-paced setting Legal right to work in the UK School Information This independent school in Manchester regularly ranks among the highest-performing schools in the North of England, with an outstanding track record of leavers progressing to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
