Job description
Are you a talented and enthusiastic Music ECT ready to bring energy and creativity into the classroom? A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated Music ECT to join its Performing Arts Department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a nurturing environment for an early career teacher to thrive. The Role You will teach Music from KS3–KS5, blending performance, composition, and theory into engaging, practical lessons. The school encourages cross-genre exploration, including classical, contemporary, and digital music production. As an ECT, you’ll receive weekly mentorship, classroom coaching, and dedicated time for professional reflection and planning. You’ll also have the opportunity to direct ensembles, coordinate concerts, and take part in the school’s lively performance calendar, which includes seasonal concerts and musicals. The School This high-performing Portsmouth school has a strong commitment to the arts and an ethos that celebrates creativity and diversity. The Music Department features a modern recording studio, practice rooms, and a performance hall equipped with professional sound systems. The school’s leadership team prioritises staff development and ensures every ECT receives personalised support during their induction year. What We’re Looking For Newly qualified or qualifying Music Teacher (QTS/PGCE or pending) Strong musicianship and ability to inspire confidence in performance Enthusiasm for creative teaching and extra-curricular involvement Excellent communication and teamwork skills Why Join?
