Job description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a French Teacher to join a highly successful secondary school in Staffordshire. This is a full-time position starting in January, suitable for Early Career Teachers looking for a supportive environment to complete their induction years. Full-time French Teacher required from January High-performing secondary school with strong outcomes at GCSE and A-Level Comprehensive support package for Early Career Teachers Motivated pupils with excellent behaviour and strong aspirations This is the ideal role for an ECT looking to begin their teaching career in a forward-thinking and well-resourced department. Modern Languages are a growing strength of the school, with recent results showing 72% of GCSE students achieving grades 5 and above in French, and A-Level French achieving 80% A*–B. The department is collaborative, with schemes of work and resources already in place, ensuring you can focus on developing your teaching practice. Requirements • Qualified French Teacher with QTS (or pending QTS for ECTs) • Ability to teach French across KS3–KS4 (KS5 teaching experience desirable but not essential) • Passionate about language learning, culture and global education • Enthusiastic, committed and eager to learn from experienced colleagues • Legal right to work in the UK Salary & Benefits This role is paid to scale on MPS. As an ECT, you will benefit from: • A structured two-year ECT induction programme • Weekly mentor meetings and developmental feedback • Reduced teaching timetable in your first year for training and planning • Regular CPD and opportunities to collaborate across the Trust’s schools • Supportive behaviour systems and strong pastoral structures • Clear progression pathways, with opportunities for TLR responsibilities in the future About the School This large secondary school educates over 1,600 pupils aged 11–18 and is consistently one of the strongest performers in the region. It combines academic rigour with outstanding pastoral care and enrichment opportunities. Sixth Form leavers progress to a wide range of universities, including Russell Group and Oxbridge, with strong outcomes across all subject areas. The campus features modern teaching blocks, a Sixth Form Centre, extensive sports facilities and specialist classrooms for languages. The Modern Languages department is dynamic, well-staffed and fully resourced, offering French and Spanish across all key stages. Pupils are ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated, with excellent behaviour. Staff are encouraged to take part in enrichment opportunities such as language exchanges, cultural trips and international visits.
