Job description
School Status & Location Sector: Outstanding Ofsted-rated Secondary School (Scientific Curiosity Hub). Location: Harrow (Outer London). Start Date: Permanent, full-time role commencing ASAP (or negotiable). The school requires an organised Science Technician to support this mission by ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of the Science labs, fostering an environment where practical exploration is highly valued. Core Responsibilities & Scope Lab Alchemist: Preparing and setting up apparatus, equipment, and materials for practical lessons across all three sciences (KS3-KS5). Safety Sentinel: Ensuring full compliance with CLEAPSS and H&S regulations, assisting with the safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials. Equipment Guru: Performing routine checking, calibration, maintenance, and cleaning of science equipment and managing stock levels efficiently. Compensation & Benefits Essential Requirements: Proven experience working in a school or laboratory setting (Science Technician qualification desirable). Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols. Salary: Competitive salary paid on the local government support staff scale (reflecting Outer London weighting). Support: Generous Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and access to professional development opportunities specific to laboratory management.
