Job description
A highly successful and well-established mixed comprehensive school in the vibrant Hammersmith area seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher with a specialism in Biology for a full-time, permanent position commencing in September. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving Science department within a school committed to the academic and personal development of its students. The Science department is well-resourced with modern laboratories and a dedicated team focused on fostering a curiosity about the natural world and developing students' scientific literacy. About the Role: Deliver engaging and challenging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a clear focus on Biology principles and concepts. Develop and implement stimulating lesson plans that incorporate practical investigations, data analysis, and real-world applications of biology. Assess student progress through lab reports, presentations, and written assessments, providing constructive feedback to enhance their understanding of biology. Contribute to the development of the science curriculum and participate in departmental initiatives to promote excellence in science education. Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Science with a strong background and specialism in Biology. A good understanding of the secondary science curriculum and effective teaching strategies for Biology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex biological concepts clearly and engagingly. Strong practical skills and experience in laboratory work, with a commitment to ensuring student safety. Benefits: Competitive salary (MPS/UPS + Inner London Weighting) commensurate with experience.
