Job description
Location: Skegness, Lincolnshire Role Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Salary: £20,500 – £23,000 FTE Start Date: September 2026 About the School This opportunity is based at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Skegness, Lincolnshire , with a strong reputation for early intervention and SEND support within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) . The school serves a diverse coastal community and places significant emphasis on ensuring children receive the right support as early as possible in their educational journey. The EYFS provision supports children aged 3–5 , including those with emerging SEN , such as speech and language delays, autism traits, social communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, and emotional regulation needs. The school works closely with parents, health visitors, and external professionals to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to early childhood development. The learning environment is calm, structured, and play-based, with clear routines, visual supports, and developmentally appropriate activities designed to build confidence, communication, independence, and emotional security . The Role As an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant , you will play a vital role in supporting young children who require additional help to access learning and routines. You will work closely with the EYFS teacher and SENCo to deliver targeted early intervention , supporting children both one-to-one and in small groups . This role requires a nurturing, observant, and patient individual who understands that early behaviour is often communication . You will help children develop social skills, manage emotions, engage in play, and begin their early literacy and numeracy journeys. You will also assist with observations, learning journals, and progress tracking, helping staff identify needs early and adjust support accordingly. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for EYFS pupils with SEN Support communication development, including language and interaction Assist children with emotional regulation and sensory needs Deliver play-based learning activities adapted to individual needs Support early phonics, mark-making, and number recognition Maintain structured routines and support transitions Use visual timetables, prompts, and sensory tools Support personal care routines where required Observe and record progress against EYFS outcomes Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards Person Specification The ideal candidate will: Have experience working in EYFS or early years SEN settings Understand child development and early intervention strategies Be nurturing, calm, and emotionally responsive Have experience supporting children with autism traits or speech delay Be confident supporting routines and behaviour positively Hold a Level 2 or 3 Early Years / TA qualification (desirable) Be committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding Professional Development & Support The school offers: EYFS SEN and early intervention training Autism awareness and communication strategies Ongoing mentoring from SEN specialists Opportunities to progress into SEN or specialist EYFS roles A supportive and collaborative working culture Safeguarding Statement The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
