School Business Manager – Outstanding Primary School, Birmingham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School information: This is a well-established and highly successful Outstanding Primary School in Birmingham, providing education for children aged 4 to 11. The school is known for its exceptional teaching, outstanding pastoral care and strong community partnerships. Business & Operations Team: The School Business Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial, administrative, HR and operational functions of the school. The role requires a highly organised, strategic and proactive professional who can ensure that the school runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include managing the school budget, monitoring financial processes, overseeing procurement, liaising with contractors, supporting payroll and HR functions, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, managing premises and maintenance, and providing accurate reports to the Headteacher and Governing Body. The School Business Manager will also support staff recruitment, oversee administrative teams, manage contracts, lead health and safety procedures and contribute to long-term financial planning. The ideal candidate will be confident, efficient and skilled in managing complex operations within a school context. They will work closely with teaching staff, support staff, governors and external agencies to ensure the highest standards across all operational areas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams, improving systems and contributing to the success and stability of a high-performing school. Requirements • Proven experience in school business management, finance or operations leadership • Strong understanding of school finance systems, budgeting and procurement • Experience managing HR procedures, compliance and health and safety processes • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong IT skills, including competence with finance software and database systems • Ability to lead administrative and premises staff effectively • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines • A proactive problem solver with a strategic mindset • Commitment to safeguarding, professionalism and high standards Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
