Job description
SEN Teaching Assistant Role in Northolt – Helping Children Build Confidence and Independence A supportive and forward-looking school in Northolt , within the London Borough of Ealing, is seeking a reliable and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join its dedicated SEN support team. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Northolt, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), learning difficulties, and communication challenges. Your role may involve one-to-one support , small group interventions , or classroom-based assistance , depending on the needs of the pupils and the structure of the school. You will support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially, helping them access the curriculum while also developing essential life and self-regulation skills. This role requires consistency, patience, and a calm presence, particularly when supporting pupils who may struggle with change, emotional regulation, or behaviour. Your support will help create a stable and positive learning experience throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN across the school day Implement strategies from EHCPs, support plans, and behaviour plans Support pupils with focus, communication, and engagement in learning Assist with emotional regulation and positive behaviour management Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs Encourage independence and resilience in pupils Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff Record observations and contribute to progress reviews Some roles may involve personal care or physical support, depending on pupil needs. Full training and guidance will be provided, with a strong emphasis on dignity and safeguarding.
