Job description
We're looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing Waste & Generation team, helping to deliver projects that are shaping the UK's energy transition. Based from our Redditch, Newcastle or Birmingham offices (with regular travel to Redditch), you'll work across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning energy from waste, biomass, hydrogen, district heating, pump stations, hydropower, energy building design, protection systems, LVAC and more.

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in technically complex and meaningful projects while working alongside multidisciplinary teams committed to delivering sustainable solutions for our clients and communities.

For more info on our projects, hear what our team have to say here.

About the Role

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll lead the electrical design and delivery of projects across a range of voltage levels (the team tend to work with a range of voltages from LV to 33kv generation), supporting projects from initial feasibility and concept development through to construction and commissioning.

As an EPCM Consultancy we will scope and specify the various electrical equipment and installation packages, engaging with and evaluating vendors on behalf of the clients and ensuring safety and compliance is delivered on time.

You'll be responsible for the design and integration of electrical systems, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, while ensuring solutions are technically robust, efficient and compliant with relevant standards. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, civil and process engineers to develop fully integrated designs and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Alongside project delivery, you'll mentor and support junior engineers, sharing your expertise and helping to develop the next generation of engineering talent.

Your Impact

You'll play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure projects that support the UK's evolving energy landscape. By applying your technical expertise and leadership, you'll help clients navigate complex engineering challenges and develop sustainable, resilient energy solutions.

Your work will directly influence the successful delivery of projects across a broad range of sectors, ensuring designs are innovative, practical and aligned with the needs of the communities they serve.

About You

You'll be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with the IET and have experience delivering electrical design solutions within the energy sector or a related industry such as water, industrial or building services.

You'll have experience producing and reviewing a range of engineering deliverables, including:
  • Single line diagrams
  • Key line diagrams
  • Block cable diagrams
  • Equipment sizing and fault level calculations
  • Load schedules
  • Technical specifications
  • Engineering reports

You'll be comfortable contributing to collaborative design reviews, technical workshops and client-facing discussions, with the communication skills to present complex technical information clearly and effectively.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who values collaboration, technical excellence and delivering the best outcomes for clients and communities.
