Job description

To provide invaluable expertise, knowledge, and skills as a highly competent and experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE). This role will serve as a key point of guidance for other engineers, both on-site and within Texo HUBs, while consistently demonstrating role model behaviour which reflects the TEXO core values. The role is responsible for leading a large team on complex projects, showcasing proficiency across multiple engineering disciplines. This role also serves as a developmental stage, preparing for progression into a Senior Field Engineer role or similar opportunities as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in complex solution development and delivery of projects in a timely and safe manner (thinks, develops and communicates commercially beneficial ideas regularly to projects)
  • Ensures and promotes site safety, good working practices and efficient delivery of all tasks given.
  • Acts as site supervisor in a leadership role delivering large scale, high complexity projects/portions of projects on behalf of SFE’s/Project Managers.
  • Reports back to SFE’s/Project Manager any relevant project delivery details as well as acting as the client liaison (Provides clear, concise two-way communication, always, with all colleagues making sure that all the relevant information is documented and delivered to all members accurately)
  • Identify and resolve engineering challenges that arise during projects, developing prompt, safe, and accurate solutions to ensure successful and timely project delivery, consistently achieving positive outcomes when issues occur.
  • Undertake team supervision and lead projects as and when necessary - always demonstrates great, safe, leadership skills and is able to motivate the team to achieve the required outcome.
  • Leads by example and promotes compliance with company policies; eg use of PPE, vehicles and Texo HUBs (is confident to and does regularly check any bad/unwanted behaviour by colleagues and is able to effectively communicate why such behaviours are not acceptable within the business)
  • Instruct, teach and lead others (always actively seeks to develop other staff members where/when possible.)
  • Use of one’s own knowledge, technical experience and engineering skillset to help in the daily delivery of all Texo projects (always seeks to execute/communicate their expertise/knowledge effectively in a particular area to help in delivery of projects)
  • Delivery of team toolbox talks and ensuring that all of the correct documentation is in place where necessary eg; site permits, RAMS, handovers and project completion documents (always)
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with clients, fellow colleagues and senior management, able to communicate effectively at all levels (always requested and selected for teams by their peers/senior management)
  • To be involved with as well as provide technical input in meetings with clients and senior management when necessary (gives valued input into meetings always)
  • Able to carry out technical site duties and site maintenance where instructed/required and under their own initiative always
  • Commitment to own professional development, enhancing and improving skills and knowledge for the benefit of all (always seeks to develop themselves/ their skillset where possible)
  • Always assists SFE’s and Project Managers with the costing and procurement of required materials, equipment, components and technologies when necessary (always willing and able to accurately help cost materials, equipment and components for a project, ability to feed this information back to SFE’s and Project Managers for the benefit of the company)
  • Keep ICT skills updated to ensure use of technology as required (ability to feedback accurate ICT information to SFE’s and Project Managers in order to update as well as update themselves the digital contract files)
  • To be an ambassador of the business and exhibit Texo core values in all areas of work.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Beneficial

  • Technical capabilities, knowledge and experience within the Utilities Industry (that can or has been demonstrated/documented/proven):
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Rope-access, complex confined space working
  • Design, manufacturing and fabrication
  • Utilities industry knowledge of plant, equipment and process comprehension/understanding
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly build and develop client rapport
  • Excellent time-keeping and time management with the ability to prioritise his/her workload to ensure all given tasks are carried out effectively and deadlines are met
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to record and maintain accurate technical information regarding complex engineering tasks.

  • Positive, can do/will do attitude (always), lifts the moral of others within the team through their positive work ethic, demonstrates strong leadership qualities and is able to get the best out of their team.
  • Shows commercial awareness when making business decisions.
  • Remains open to new ideas and methods of work (demonstrates ability to produce/communicate potential new ideas and develop new methods of working)
  • Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the role, which may involve performing manual tasks and contributing to team efforts during demanding projects. Reasonable adjustments will be considered to support candidates and employees with differing needs
  • Always works safely and involves SHEQ and senior management when they feel uncomfortable or need to seek commercial/business advice (knows their limits and never makes rash un-calculated decisions without first seeking help)
  • Regularly steps forward when a new project is presented to them (always shows a willingness to raise their hand and be accounted for)
