Job description

Karntek is seeking a Fire Door Inspector to join our growing team of fire safety professionals.

Working across a diverse portfolio of residential and educational buildings, you will carry out fire door inspections and compartmentation surveys that help clients improve compliance, reduce risk, and enhance the safety of their buildings.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected and rapidly expanding fire safety business where you'll work on a variety of projects, develop your expertise, and play a key role in improving fire safety standards.

About Karntek

Karntek is a leading and rapidly growing fire safety business, trusted by clients across the residential and education sectors to deliver high-quality fire safety services.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and professionalism in everything we do. Karntek is proud to hold BAFE SP205 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme certification, demonstrating our commitment to excellence within the fire safety industry. We also hold ISO 9001 certification for quality management.

The Role

As a Fire Door Inspector, you will be at the forefront of passive fire protection assessments, working independently and as part of a highly experienced team to identify risks, assess compliance, and contribute to safer built environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys, and other fire safety assessments across residential and educational premises throughout London and the Southeast.
  • Review and interpret fire strategies to assess compliance and support informed decision-making.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, clients, and site teams while conducting surveys on-site.
  • Identify breaches in fire compartmentation, including fire doors and other passive fire protection measures.
  • Assess existing fire safety provisions and provide clear, practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Produce professional, accurate, and easy-to-understand reports detailing findings and recommended actions.
  • Stay up to date with evolving fire safety legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.

Why Join Karntek?

At Karntek, you'll join a business that is trusted by clients across sectors for delivering high-quality fire safety services. As our team continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, develop your expertise, and play a meaningful role in improving fire safety standards.

We value professionalism, technical excellence, and a collaborative approach, giving our surveyors the support and autonomy needed to thrive in their careers while making a genuine difference to the safety of the buildings they assess.

About You

You are detail-oriented, professional, and passionate about improving fire safety. You enjoy working independently, communicating with clients and residents, and taking ownership of your work. Most importantly, you understand the vital role that passive fire protection plays in protecting lives and property.

If you're looking for an opportunity to join a growing business where your work has real impact and your expertise is valued, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

Relevant experience in fire safety, building surveying, passive fire protection, or a related field.

  • Proven experience conducting fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys, or similar fire safety assessments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively in a remote, field-based role.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Central and Greater London, with occasional travel to client sites further afield.
  • Ability to attend Karntek's Stafford head office periodically as required.
  • Flexibility to stay away overnight when projects require travel of more than 1.5 hours from home.
  • Full UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
  • Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check (arranged by Karntek).

Desirable

  • FDIS qualification or fire door inspection training.
  • CSCS Card.

Benefits

  • What We Offer
    • A competitive salary package, tailored to your skills and experience.
    • A commitment to paying at least the National Living Wage, reflecting our dedication to fair and responsible employment practices.
    • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, giving you plenty of time to rest and recharge.
    • Company pension scheme to help you plan for the future.
    • Discretionary bonus scheme, recognising and rewarding individual and business success.
    • Employee recognition programmes, including Employee of the Month awards, celebrating outstanding contributions.
    • Genuine career development and progression opportunities within a growing and ambitious business.
    • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), providing confidential wellbeing, financial, and personal support.
    • Exclusive discounts and savings through our employee shopping portal.
    • A supportive, collaborative team culture where your contribution is valued and your development is encouraged.

Karntek is proud to be an Equal Opportunities and Accredited National Living Wage Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences and make employment decisions based on skills, potential, experience, and business needs.
