Grant Thornton’s Restructuring Team supports companies and their stakeholders to navigate periods of stress and distress with thoughtful, pragmatic solutions. Our team advises both creditors and companies - offering turnaround support, restructuring options, contingency planning and independent business reviews. We also deliver formal insolvency appointments and act as expert witnesses when needed.

We work with a wide range of clients, from international listed groups to mid-market owner-managed businesses, across sectors like real estate, construction, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, automotive and consumer finance. Our recent work includes high-profile assignments such as Ambatovy, McDermott, River Island, Buckingham Group and Royale Resorts, alongside many complex but rewarding confidential engagements across the UK and beyond.

A look into the role

As aDirector:

  • You willbe responsible formanaging a portfolio of case work with minimal partner involvement.

  • Leading the preparation and delivery of pitches for new assignments, proposing relevant,commercialand innovative solutions to client issues.

  • You will take the role of lead contact for multiple client relationships, develop opportunities to win new work andidentifyand support the development of new products and services. You will balance risks to the firm with commercial opportunities.

  • You will have experience in leading and delivering financial restructuring engagements, including creditor side advisory mandates, business reviews, turnarounds, winddowns, contingency planning and formalinsolvency;taking responsibility for all aspects of delivery of case strategy, and delegating whereappropriate.

  • Able to apply technical knowledge appropriately in the context of individual clients and display both skill and speed in resolving client problems, as well asmaintainingimpetus on progressing projects and delivers on those projects.

  • Act as an effective mentor to team members. With an interest in their career progression enabling them to reach their full potential.

  • You will take responsibility for compliance, applying best practice, risk management,budgetsand billing, providinga timelyand profitable servicein accordance withthe highest professional standards and contributing to the continued growth and development of the department.

  • Have agood understanding of the market and current developments and has good network of external contacts and is proactive inmaintainingthis network and developing a strong internal network.

  • Show interest in departmental management issues and takes on responsibility for discreet projects, asappropriate, whilst also balancing conflicting demands and remove obstacles to achieving results.

  • High energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well ina very fastpaced environment.

  • Expertisedefining, communicating,motivatingand driving change across the broader community of stakeholders.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills with complex/sophisticated situations involving senior level stakeholders.

  • A Thought Leader and have experience delivering innovative solutions with the development of new tools,methodologiesand approaches.

  • Expert written communication skills, self-directed with preparation of client ready document and presentation development.

  • Articulate, persuasive, communicator. Commands the room, handles difficult audiences well. Readily adapts style and message appropriately to audience and circumstance. Outstanding at impromptu communication under pressure.

Knowingyou’reright for us

Joiningus as Director, theminimumcriteriayou’llneedisto have:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant restructuring / distressed experience in a professional service or consulting firm environment.

  • Havesignificantexperienceof managing projects, including Creditor side advisory mandates, Company side turnaround, independent business reviews, short-term cash flow reviews, accelerated sales processes, contingency planning and execution and insolvency appointments (including pre-packaged administration appointments).

  • You’llhave a relevant accounting qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent). Insolvency qualifications would also be beneficial but are not essential.

  • You’llalready have a developed network of contacts and will be generating work referrals either directly or indirectly.You’lltake responsibility for developing and implementing marketing initiatives and supporting the Partner team in business development activity.
