Job description

An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle is looking for an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the team this September.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4 when required
  • Lead targeted intervention sessions to accelerate student progress
  • Provide high-quality classroom support across a range of subject areas
  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities
  • Support students with SEND and additional learning needs where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and families

You'll become a key member of the school's teaching and inclusion team, helping to raise achievement and support student success.

We're Looking For

  • HLTA status or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant
  • Confident professionals who can lead learning independently
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged students
  • A proactive, organised and flexible approach
  • Someone who can inspire confidence while maintaining high expectations

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
