General Teaching Assistant – Primary School Support

Location: Garston, Liverpool (L19)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is working with welcoming primary schools across the Garston area to recruit dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistants for roles beginning in September 2026.

About the Role

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils thrive both academically and socially. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Working with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives
  • Assisting pupils with additional learning, social, emotional, or SEND needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil engagement
  • Preparing classroom resources and supporting day-to-day classroom activities
  • Helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all pupils

Successful candidates will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people in educational, childcare, coaching, youth work, or similar settings
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be patient, caring, and committed to supporting pupil development
  • Show initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Be adaptable and willing to support across different year groups when required
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
