Job description

Pulse Acute Doctors - A&E Senior Registrar

London

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and capable Senior Registrar in Emergency Medicine to join a high‑performing Emergency Department in a central London teaching hospital. You’ll be working in a fast‑paced, supportive environment that sees a diverse range of acute presentations, from high‑acuity trauma to complex medical and surgical emergencies.

As part of a well‑structured middle‑grade rota, you will play a key role in maintaining safe, efficient flow through majors, minors and resus areas, while supporting junior doctors and ensuring timely senior review.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

Work flexibly across majors, minors, resus, and rapid assessment zones.

Support and supervise junior clinicians (FY/CT levels) and Advanced Care Practitioners.

Participate in clinical decision‑making, patient flow coordination, and referrals to specialty teams.

Contribute to departmental teaching, audit, and quality improvement projects.

Ensure safe handover and effective communication across shifts.

Uphold Trust values around patient safety, dignity, and clinical excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise.

Minimum 6–12 months NHS experience in Emergency Medicine at Registrar/Middle Grade level.

Competent in managing resuscitation cases, acute medical and trauma patients.

ALS / ATLS / APLS certification (current or recently expired).

Strong communication and leadership skills under pressure.

MRCP / MRCEM (or equivalent)

Why Join This Role?

Work in a busy, central London A&E serving a diverse and dynamic patient population.

Flexible rota to suit your schedule – ad‑hoc, weekend, or block bookings.

Competitive hourly rates with fast registration and onboarding.

Excellent consultant support and structured departmental handovers.

Opportunity to broaden experience across majors, resus, ambulatory care, and minors.

  • Competitive hourly rates
  • Daily and weekly payroll services
  • Revalidation and appraisal services
  • Career progression and market‑insight with your own expert consultant
  • Access to CPD events & training courses
  • Access to exclusive locum opportunities with more preferred supplier contracts
  • Rewarding recommendation and loyalty schemes

How to apply?

If you feel your expertise is suited to this role, please apply today and our specialist team will be in touch to discuss it with you in more detail. If you are registered with Pulse and recommend a friend to us, you can earn £500 per recommendation, once they have worked over 200 hours*.
