Job description

Programmes Fellows – Overview

One Young World is seeking three new Programmes Fellows to help make their ambitious plans for One Young World 2026 Cape Town a reality. Fellows will be assigned to a department for the course of their Fellowship from January 2026 to 30 November 2026. This is a fixed‑term, full‑time role.

Responsibilities

Fellows joining the Programmes Team will be responsible for ensuring the brightest young leaders in the world are able to attend the One Young World Summit, regardless of their financial means or location. Key responsibilities include:

  • Research and engage with young leaders around the world to promote One Young World’s programmes.
  • Support the admissions process to ensure the very best candidates benefit from programmes.
  • Provide logistical support to beneficiaries, including visa application assistance, flight booking, and housing coordination.
  • Respond to incoming queries from delegates (scholarship and corporate) and partners, managing multiple email inboxes and calls.
  • Maintain database records.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for delegates during the Summit from more than 190 countries.

Qualifications

To succeed in the Fellowship, you will:

  • Have an active interest in current affairs, sustainability, and geopolitical issues.
  • Be highly efficient and organised, with experience of complex administrative tasks.
  • Have experience using the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Be a team player who takes initiative and can cope well with deadlines and a high‑pressure environment.
  • Possess a confident, professional manner suitable for an outward‑facing role and be comfortable speaking on the telephone.
  • Be fluent in English; fluency in an additional language is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK and ideally be based within commuter distance of London or plan to relocate to London in January 2026.
  • Show passion for and strong general knowledge of social and environmental causes.
  • Exhibit an enthusiastic, professional personality and excellent attention to detail.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Benefits

  • Full‑time, 37.5‑hour week (Monday‑Friday) office‑based, with “Flexible Fridays” for nine months of the year.
  • Private medical insurance covering physiotherapy, dental, eye care and mental health support.
  • NEST company pension scheme.
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme and season ticket loans.
  • Travel to events as necessary.
  • Regular opportunities to access paid training and professional development.
  • A sociable team with casual after‑work socials and seasonal parties.
  • Opportunity to attend high‑profile events such as Cannes Lions, the UN ECOSOC Forum, and local initiatives.
  • Unparalleled network of changemakers worldwide and weekly inspiration from young leaders.

How to Apply

Please apply using the link below, uploading a CV and cover letter by 19 December. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we recommend applying as early as possible. A longlist of candidates will be invited to participate in short video interviews, followed by a final round of panel interviews and assessments. By the start of employment, you must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Equal Opportunity

One Young World is proud to be an equal‑opportunity workplace and is committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
