We are now looking for two Payroll Officers to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £32,750 per annum, rising to £35,564 (inclusive of the Inner London Weighting)
  • Annual leave starting at 25 days, rising by 1 day each April to a maximum of 30 days, plus bank holidays

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Investing in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities

The Role

As a Payroll Officer, you will assist in delivering an efficient and accurate payroll function, ensuring salaries are processed correctly and paid on time across the organisation.

Specifically, you will collate and check monthly payroll data, including timesheets, for input into the payroll processing system, and assist with running the monthly payroll to ensure payment deadlines are consistently met.

Helping maintain the accuracy of payroll-related financial records, you will also ensure payroll queries are prioritised and responded to within a reasonable timescale. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, liaise with the Payroll Bureau to support payroll processing, and reconcile payroll bureau reports against internal records, ensuring employees are paid correctly.

Additionally, you will:

  • Support the preparation of monthly pension reports
  • Help prepare payroll for Isle of Man staff
  • Process payroll invoices
  • Ensure payroll creditors are paid on time
  • Ensure remittance advice notes are issued to suppliers and payroll creditors

About You

To be considered as our Payroll Officer, you will need:

  • Relevant experience and a good understanding of payroll processes
  • Demonstrable experience of working with computerised payroll and accounting systems and HR information systems, including MHR (iTrent) integrated HR and Payroll systems and Sun Accounts
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to think creatively and decisively to solve problems
  • The ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively, both internally and externally
  • The ability to work with diplomacy and assertiveness, maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • The ability to work autonomously using your own judgement and as part of a team
  • A high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
  • An NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Payroll

The closing date for this role is 18th January 2026.

Other organisations may call this role Payroll Co-ordinator, Payroll Administrator, Payroll Specialist, or Payroll Processor.

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any adjustments if shortlisted for an interview. We also make reasonable adjustments on the job, where required.

We are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Intersectionality is important to us, and we particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ candidates and disabled candidates because we are committed to increasing the representation of these groups at Family Action.
