I have been assigned by an NHS Trust in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Anaesthetics & ITU on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months.
The Department of Anaesthesia is based on the first floor adjacent to the operating theatres, with secretarial support in the same office. Intensive care unit is located on the fourth floor providing Level 2 and 3 care. ICU supports anaesthetic services for elective and emergency surgeries. The Critical Care Directorate office is located alongside the ICU. All offices are equipped with modern facilities. The operating theatres have rest rooms and a seminar room, shared by nursing and medical staff. A modern, well‑equipped trainee’s area is available for trainees.
A comprehensive anaesthetic service is available for all routine and emergency surgical procedures for in‑patients and day‑case patients in the following specialties: General surgery, vascular surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic surgery, spinal surgery, Gynaecology (including routine and high‑risk obstetrics), Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental and Maxillo‑Facial Surgery & High‑risk anaesthetic assessment clinic and CPET service.
