Support and Integration Officer – Birmingham

Who We Are

ACH is a social enterprise with a clear vision, dedicated to empowering refugees and migrants in the UK to lead self‑sufficient and ambitious lives. We bring together a diverse team of strategists and researchers, driven by their own lived experiences, to provide tailored integration services.

Why We Do What We Do

Our mission goes beyond individual support; we actively challenge and disrupt the systems that perpetuate inequalities in our society. With a proven track record of delivering effective support services, in 2024, we helped house over 1,400 individuals and provided support to over 500 of our service users, helping them to achieve their personal goals and lead fulfilling lives in their new country.

Our Commitment to You

  • Salary of £26,521 per annum
  • 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Employee Recognition Programme
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Social gatherings and staff retreats
  • A fully stocked staffroom!

This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate individual with a background in supporting refugees or asylum seekers to join our dedicated organisation. In this fulfilling role, you will have the chance to make a lasting impact by supporting individuals and families to build stability, achieve independence, and create brighter futures in the UK.

What’s more, once you join our team in Birmingham, you will discover a warm and welcoming environment, where collaboration guides us, empathy shapes us, and mutual support lies at the very heart of all that we do. We’ll enable you to grow and develop, further enhance your skills and build a strong professional portfolio, whilst making a positive impact on the lives of so many vulnerable and deserving people as they build new lives in safety.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Support and Integration Officer, you will deliver high‑quality support and guidance to help refugees in Birmingham successfully resettle and integrate into their new communities. Taking ownership of a caseload, you will conduct pre‑tenancy assessments and create personalised support plans to address the diverse needs of service users. You’ll offer practical, informed guidance on housing, finance, education, health, and immigration, as well as providing support with budgeting, registering with care providers, and creating social networks. Offering advocacy support, you will also advise on volunteering, training, and employment opportunities. Alongside your one‑to‑one work, you will develop strong relationships with local agencies, co‑ordinate group sessions and help individuals connect with the wider opportunities and community resources available to them.

  • Make referrals to relevant departments and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate case records and files to a high standard.
  • Participate fully in team meetings, training, supervision, and other staff activities.
  • Organise house meetings and carry out property and community visits.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience of working with asylum seekers or refugees in a voluntary or paid capacity.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance, advocacy and culturally sensitive support.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with people with complex/multiple support needs.
  • Experience of creating support plans and completing needs assessments.
  • Experience and capability to support refugees in the UK.
  • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding in relation to working with vulnerable adults.
  • The ability to effectively assess, manage and continuously review needs and risks.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and manage a caseload.
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.

Due to the nature of this post, an enhanced DBS check will be undertaken for successful applicants, but only with their prior consent. The closing date for this role is 7th December 2025.
