Job description

Are you a compassionate, reliable, and proactive individual looking for a truly rewarding role?

We are seeking a Female Support Worker to provide person-centred support to a young woman with a spinal cord injury who enjoys living a full, creative, and independent life.

Our client has a passion for art and mouth painting, loves attending craft fairs and community events, and enjoys staying actively involved in the things that matter most to her. You'll play an important role in supporting her with everyday living, helping her access the community, pursue her interests, and maintain her independence.

She lives with her husband, two friendly dogs, and a cat, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a pet-friendly home.

Roles Available

Full time: 36 hours / 3 Shifts A Week

Shift Pattern

• Day Shifts: 08:00- 20:00

Bank Holidays and weekend work will form part of the rota

Pay Rates

• £15.00 per hour weekday day rate

• £16.00 per hour weekend day rate

• £108.00 per night for sleepovers

Double time for Bank Holidays

Hourly rates are paid £1.00 per hour less during probationary period

Role Responsibilities

• Providing personal and respiratory care

• Supporting with daily living tasks and household duties

• Assisting with community outings and occasional holidays

Ideal Support Worker

Essential:

• A positive, caring and proactive approach

• Previous experience in a care or support role

• Flexible, reliable and committed

• Comfortable working around pets

Preferred:

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive an adapted vehicle

• Experience of working with spinal cord injuries

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose: To support your client with their day-to-day living, promoting their independence and supporting them to live a fulfilled life ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Internal and Management: This role will report to the Registered Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities of our Support Worker:

Supporting your client to safely lead a fulfilling and more independent life by:

• Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork

• Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual's choice

• Support and monitor your client's healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks

• Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish

• Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly

• Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide

• Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support

• Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times

• Participate in learning and development opportunities as required

This is not intended to cover all the responsibilities of the post but to provide some guidance. The post holder will perform any other duties that are deemed reasonable and appropriate by your Line Manager.

As a term of employment, you may be required to undertake other duties and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required. This forms part of your employment contract.
