Motor Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Department: Engineering, Sopp+Sopp

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the role

We're looking for a Motor Engineer to join our Engineering Team.

You will be responsible for engineering estimates in a timely manner specific to the requirements of the client, to check and confirm the cost we are authorising is fair, reasonable and related to the incident in question.

Key responsibilities

  • Check incident circumstances against work estimated for to see if the damage could be related to the incident.
  • Check estimated costs are fair and reasonable.
  • Check estimates are within customer specific rates if a network repairer has been allocated.
  • Amend estimates to correct customer specific rates if a network repairer has been allocated.
  • Negotiate with non-network repairers in order to bring inflated costs down.
  • Authorise incident related work to repairers.
  • Correctly value vehicles for total losses.

Skills and experience

  • Engineering background and body shop experience
  • Experience of using Audatex and the Case Management System
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal / written communication

A bit about us

Activate Group is a fast-growing business approaching 1,000 team members nationwide.

We work with some of the UK's largest fleets and insurance companies, supporting drivers that have been involved in road incidents through our contact centres in Halifax, Peterborough and Huddersfield.

We manage every step of the repair journey - repairing vehicles at our own Activate Accident Repair (AAR) body shops, as well as through a UK-wide network of trusted independent repair partners.

We also work with the UK's largest vehicle manufacturers, supporting their approved repair programmes, and deliver innovative technology solutions to fleets, vehicle repair centres and dealerships.
