Job description
Deputy SENCO – Inclusive Secondary School – Croydon – April Start Position: Deputy SENCO Location: Croydon Start Date: April 2025 Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, based on experience We are looking for a committed and experienced Deputy SENCO to join our inclusive secondary school in Croydon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs and contributing to the development of a dynamic and supportive SEN department. Key Responsibilities: Assist the SENCO in leading and managing the school’s SEN provision, ensuring the best outcomes for students with a range of additional needs. Support the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff. Provide guidance and professional development to staff on SEN best practices and differentiation. Monitor and track the progress of SEN students, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place. Work closely with students, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students' academic, social, and emotional development. Lead and manage a team of teaching assistants, ensuring they are well-supported and trained in their roles. Contribute to the school’s policies, strategies, and provision for students with SEN, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. Who We’re Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognized SEN qualification (or working towards it). Experience in a secondary school setting, preferably with a focus on SEN. A strong understanding of SEN legislation, practices, and strategies. Leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to support and motivate staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Why Join Us?
