Job description

About the Role:

We are recruiting a Amanuensis (Note Taker) to support our Higher Education Counselling students at Activate Learning. You will play an important role in enabling adult learners to engage fully with their studies by producing accurate, accessible notes from taught sessions.

You will attend scheduled counselling programme sessions and create clear, impartial written notes that capture key learning points, discussions, and activities. These notes will be shared securely with the student group to support learning, reflection, and preparation for practice.

This is a part-time role (9 hours per week) fixed term contract until July 2027, based at Guildford college.

What do you need to be successful as an Amanuensis at Activate Learning?

We are looking for someone who combines excellent listening and writing skills with a strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality. You will be calm, organised, and able to summarise complex discussions accurately and neutrally.

• A good standard of general education (minimum Level 3, e.g. A Levels or equivalent).
• Experience taking accurate notes or minutes in an academic or professional setting.
• Excellent listening skills and written English, with strong attention to detail.
• The ability to summarise complex discussions clearly, neutrally, and in an organised way.
• Confidence using digital tools for note-taking and secure document sharing.
• A solid understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and professional boundaries, particularly in counselling or educational contexts.

Ideally, you will also have:
• Familiarity with counselling or psychology terminology.
• Experience supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Training or qualifications in notetaking, administration, or related fields.
