Crosshead Extrusion Setter

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for experienced Crosshead Extrusion Setters to join a leading and well-established manufacturer.

Shift Patterns & Pay

We have opportunities available on the following shift patterns:

Day Shifts

Monday to Thursday

• 06:00 - 18:00
• £14.00+ per hour (dependent on experience)

OR

Monday to Thursday

• 07:00 - 19:00
• £14.00+ per hour (dependent on experience)

Rotating Day & Night Shifts (39 Hours Per Week)

Weeks 1 & 2 (Days)

• Monday to Wednesday: 06:00 - 18:00
• Thursday: 06:00 - 12:00

Weeks 3 & 4 (Nights)

• Monday to Wednesday: 18:00 - 06:00

Pay Rate

• £17.08+ per hour (includes 22% shift allowance and is dependent on experience)

Permanent Night Shifts

Monday to Wednesday

• 18:00 - 06:00

Pay Rate

• £17.50+ per hour (includes 25% shift allowance and is dependent on experience)

Rates may be higher depending on experience and skill level.

The Role

As a Crosshead Extrusion Setter, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion lines to ensure production targets, quality standards, and efficiency levels are achieved. This is a hands-on manufacturing role requiring strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and experience working with a variety of extrusion materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting up and preparing crosshead extrusion lines for production.
• Carrying out machine changeovers and tooling adjustments.
• Adjusting process parameters to maintain product quality and maximise output.
• Working with materials including PVC, Polyurethane, Megalon, and Nylon.
• Monitoring production performance and making process improvements where required.
• Troubleshooting machine and process issues to minimise downtime.
• Conducting quality checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
• Packing and preparing finished products for dispatch.
• Maintaining safe working practices and complying with all Health & Safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working as an Extrusion Setter or in a similar extrusion setting role.
• Proven experience within co-extrusion, particularly wire coating, hose extrusion, or pipe extrusion.
• Strong understanding of extrusion processes, tooling, and machine setup.
• Experience working with PVC, Polyurethane, Megalon, Nylon, or similar materials.
• Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.

Important Information

Candidates with experience solely in blown film extrusion will not be considered, as this position requires experience within crosshead, pipe, hose, or wire coating extrusion environments.
