Job description

Are you a supportive and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant who enjoys helping children reach their full potential?

A friendly and well-regarded primary school in Brentwood is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in a KS1 classroom with additional needs. This is a full-time, long-term position starting as soon as possible, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference during an important stage of a child’s learning and development.

The school has a welcoming atmosphere and a supportive staff team who work closely together to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a KS1 pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them engage with classroom activities, follow routines, and build confidence in their learning. You will play an important role in encouraging positive participation and supporting the child both academically and socially.

This position would suit someone patient, nurturing, and adaptable who enjoys working with younger children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with additional learning needs

  • Supporting the child to access classroom learning and activities

  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence

  • Assisting with classroom routines, transitions, and structured learning tasks

  • Helping to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the child’s development

  • Promoting positive behaviour and social interaction

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children in a primary school or childcare setting

  • A patient, caring, and positive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Why Join This School?

  • A friendly and supportive primary school in the Brentwood area

  • Opportunity to make a real impact through 1:1 support

  • Long-term, full-time role offering stability

  • Ongoing support from GSL Education

If you are a dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a KS1 pupil, we would love to hear from you.
