Job description

Base pay range

This range is provided by Selecta. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Selecta is the largest provider of unattended self‑serve coffee and convenience food in Europe, leading the way in vending solutions and specialist coffee services. We are hiring a Static Service Engineer to join our Technical department and provide high quality service to all customers, while actively contributing to the overall improvements of the business by servicing and maintaining equipment to a high standard.

As a Service Engineer your goal is to limit the volume of equipment failure through correct service and maintenance, ensuring that the business receives zero client complaints regarding technical reliability for machines within your area of responsibility.

This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday). The role is based at a static site located just a 5‑minute walk from Liverpool Street Station. A company vehicle is not provided, as all work will be carried out on site. Stock and supplies will be available on site for servicing the machines.

About Selecta

Selecta operates across 16 countries within Europe, serving 12 million people every day. Within the UK we deliver a national service, relied on and trusted by circa 3,500 businesses to serve tasty beverages and snacks at a variety of locations from workplaces to schools, universities, hospitals and everywhere in‑between. Our engineers are critical to the operating of our business, ensuring that our machines are well maintained and in working order, so that we can continuously delight our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faults on a complete range of vending equipment.
  • Ensure that as many jobs as possible are completed on the first visit, and if a return visit is necessary, that it is carried out at the soonest opportunity.
  • Continuously review multiple‑fault equipment and prioritize machines that display persistent breakdowns.
  • Maintain access to technical manuals/documentation relevant to the equipment you are servicing/maintaining.
  • Attend various training courses to maintain the highest standard of workmanship.
  • Maintain good customer relations by adopting a pleasant manner at all times and adhering to customer procedures and health & safety policies where appropriate.
  • Be aware of potential customer dissatisfaction and take appropriate action (repair machine, seek assistance from senior engineers/service managers) to avoid complaints turning into dissatisfaction.

Requirements

  • Maintain a close working relationship with colleagues and clients to provide the best possible service.
  • Work on your own initiative.
  • Be customer‑focused with a smart and professional appearance.
  • Possess strong electrical knowledge/experience, demonstrated through practical work experience or an electrical qualification.
  • Have a technical background with strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Work safely on electrical equipment.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK permanently. Please apply for consideration – we look forward to reviewing your CV.

In line with the Immigration, Nationality and Asylum Act, all applicants will be expected to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK if invited to interview. Selecta UK recognises the benefits of a diverse workforce and we therefore welcome applications from all backgrounds and all sections of the community.

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday pa + bank holidays
  • Life assurance of 2x yearly salary
  • Training provided; you’ll also achieve certifications in food hygiene, health & safety and fresh food handling
  • Security of 5‑weeks paid sick leave
  • Development opportunities available and clearly mapped career paths
  • Company phone provided

At Selecta, we are committed to equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion, embracing our differences to achieve our common goal. We are united in our principle of making people feel great and we are grounded by our purpose to create more moments of joy for everyone through our way of working.
