Job description
Behaviour & Inclusion Support Worker

South Leeds
⏰ Full-Time | Immediate Start Available
Competitive daily pay, based on experience and qualifications

Some young people don't need another person telling them what they've done wrong.

They need someone who'll show up, stay calm, and help them believe that tomorrow can look different from today.

We're looking for a Behaviour & Inclusion Support Worker to join a specialist setting in South Leeds, supporting children and young people who may have experienced exclusion, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, or barriers to learning in mainstream education.

If you're the sort of person who can build trust, spot what's really going on beneath the surface, and help young people find their feet again, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting pupils across a range of ages and abilities
  • Working one-to-one and in small groups to help students engage with learning
  • Building positive relationships with young people who may struggle in traditional classroom environments
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs
  • Helping create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and wider support staff

This role could be a great fit if you...

  • Stay calm when others are losing theirs
  • Understand that behaviour is communication
  • Enjoy building meaningful relationships with young people
  • Have experience in education, youth work, support work, coaching, care, mentoring, or similar roles
  • Want a job where no two days are ever quite the same

What you'll need

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Two recent professional references
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • A positive, resilient attitude and genuine passion for supporting young people

Why work with Protocol Education?

Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies and no hidden deductions

FREE access to our online CPD Academy

Thrive training available at no cost if you're not already qualified

A dedicated consultant who'll actually get to know you

Opportunities in SEND schools, alternative provisions, PRUs, and mainstream settings

Roles where you're part of the team, not just filling a gap

This isn't about managing behaviour.

It's about helping young people rebuild confidence, feel understood, and experience success in education again.

And that's the kind of work people remember.

Interested?

Apply today or get in touch for a chat. We'd love to tell you more about the school and see whether it's the right fit for you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
