Job description

Overview

Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist role at Orchards Manor School, Norfolk. Permanent, term-time or flexible full-time options discussed. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours overlapping core school hours. Salary up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience) plus £3,000 Welcome Bonus and relocation package (T&Cs apply). Location: Orchards Manor School, PE34 3HT.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver bespoke Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils, including those who may have experienced developmental trauma, are neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs.
  • Hold an OT caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead; contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Work collaboratively with education teams to implement the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working and ensure alignment with governing and professional body requirements.
  • Support development of an enhanced OT offer, including growth of apprentices, students, and therapy assistants.
  • Participate in staff development, training sessions, and evidence-based practice to improve pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Occupational Therapy degree; HCPC registered and RCOT member.
  • 3+ years of OT practice; experience in settings involving LD, SEMH, neurodivergence.
  • In-depth knowledge of OT theory and its practical application; experience in multidisciplinary settings with some responsibility for service & team performance.
  • Experience working with families/relatives and carers; strong communication, relationship-building, analytical, and judgement skills.
  • Understanding of behaviour, communication, physical needs (dexterity, coordination, sensory skills), and developmental needs affecting independence.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of neurodivergence, learning disability, and trauma-informed practice; knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for practice and management.
  • Good clinical reasoning skills, quality improvement mindset, and ability to engage in governance and record-keeping standards.
  • Postgraduate study in areas such as Sensory Integration, developmental trauma, or sensory attachment is desirable.
