British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an exceptional Scientific Data Officer to join our team. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. We employ experts from many different professions to carry out our Science as well as keep the lights on, feed the research and support teams and keep everyone safe!

Working at BAS is rewarding. British Antarctic Survey is a component of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation www.ukri.org

You’ll be joining the UK Polar Data Centre (PDC), which is the focal point for Arctic and Antarctic environmental data management in the UK. It is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Environmental Data Service. The team work closely with scientists across all disciplines within the UK polar community, as well as with data managers within other NERC data centres.

You’ll help us to deliver preservation and management of polar data from UK-funded research and to support researchers in complying with national and international data legislation and policy. Within the role, there will be an opportunity to develop skills and understanding of current data management practices within a Core Trust Seal accredited data centre.
