Overview

Together Women is looking for an outstanding Director of Services to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead delivery teams across Yorkshire, Humberside and the wider North of England region. This is a senior role with responsibility for ensuring we deliver high-quality, gender-specific, trauma-informed services that are safe, sustainable, and meet the needs of the women we support, empowering them to achieve positive outcomes. As Director of Services, you will provide oversight of our portfolio of contracts and services, working closely with commissioners and funders to meet obligations and expectations. You will lead a team of managers, providing strategic leadership, guidance, and support to effectively motivate and manage their delivery teams to meet targets and KPIs, in line with our core values and ethical framework. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and represent Together Women regionally and nationally, championing our mission and drive for systemic change.

Location: onsite in Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Bradford, or Wakefield

How to apply: Please send your CV and a two page covering letter to admin@togetherwomen.org. Full details at https://togetherwomen.org/director-of-services/

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Line Management
    • Provide strategic leadership to service delivery teams across Yorkshire and Humberside, ensuring high-quality services.
    • Inspire, coach, and empower senior managers; foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
    • Champion a trauma-informed, inclusive culture aligned to Together Women’s values.
  • Contract and Service Oversight
    • Oversee all operational contracts to ensure delivery is high quality, compliant, and responsive to commissioner requirements.
    • Represent Together Women at contract review meetings and maintain relationships with commissioners and funders.
    • Lead contract monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance to drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Partnerships and Influence
    • Build and sustain partnerships with statutory partners (probation, courts, health, police, local authorities) and act as an ambassador for Together Women at strategic boards, networks, and events.
    • Work with the CEO, Trustees, and sector colleagues to influence policy and practice, keeping women and girls central to justice reform and community services.
  • Strategy and Development
    • Contribute to the organisation’s long-term strategic vision and ensure services remain responsive to policy landscapes.
    • Horizon-scan for emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in criminal justice and women’s sectors to inform priorities.
    • Shape new service models and partnerships to extend reach and impact; co-design services with commissioners, partners, and communities to embed lived experience and local voice.
    • Support diversification of income through opportunities for growth, collaboration, and sustainable funding.
  • Quality, Data and Impact
    • Ensure safeguarding, governance, and quality assurance frameworks across all services.
    • Oversee data and insight to measure impact, inform decisions, and influence funders.
    • Promote evidence-based service design and early intervention; demonstrate value for money to commissioners and funders.
    • Manage operational budgets with accountability for income and expenditure; balance financial sustainability with service quality.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in leading operational services within the charity or public sector.
  • Proven track record of managing senior staff, budgets, and complex service delivery models.
  • Experience leading high-performing, inclusive teams and driving cultural change.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining relationships with commissioners, funders, and statutory partners.
  • Skilled in navigating conflict, building consensus, and influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Evidence of data-driven decision making and improvements in performance, quality, and outcomes.
  • Significant understanding of safeguarding best practices.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and accountability.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, feminism, and social justice.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and challenges faced by women at risk of, or in contact with, the system.

Other Requirements

  • Proficient in IT and office systems.
  • Willingness to travel across the region and occasionally nationally.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings as required.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, feminism, social justice, and abolitionist values.
  • Lived experience of the criminal justice system is welcomed and will not necessarily preclude appointment.

Notes

  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. An enhanced DBS check and MOJ vetting will be required. Applications from women with lived experience of the criminal justice system are actively encouraged.
  • This post is restricted to women applicants only, as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
  • We are committed to reflecting the diversity of the women we serve and actively encourage applications from women under-represented in leadership, including Black, Asian, and other racially minoritised women, and women living with disabilities.
