My client is looking for an experienced Managing Director to lead the medical device manufacturing site in Scotland. This role offers the chance to guide a business in the medical device device market, ensuring operational excellence, strategic growth, and a culture of quality that embodies their brand values.

The Role

The Managing Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across all site functions, including Production, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Facility Management. Implementing a value stream management approach, the role demands driving accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement while meeting and exceeding financial, quality, safety, and compliance goals.

The successful candidate will influence the strategic direction of the business, support the development of new products in collaboration with R&D, and lead the site’s capacity expansion to support current market growth. Additionally, the role involves championing cross-site process harmonisation and representing the business with customers, partners, regulators, and the parent board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site operations to achieve excellence in delivery, quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Promote best-practice sharing and process alignment across multiple sites.
  • Provide Financial, Risk Management and Product Safety oversight.
  • Report to the parent board on performance and the deployment of our strategy/key objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.

About You

An inspiring and results-driven leader with extensive experience in regulated manufacturing (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or a closely related industry) is essential. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to deliver operational excellence through high-performing teams.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in a director-level role within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Technical degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven track record in operational management and business leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget control.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical analysis tools.
