Someone who understands what kids are talking about, what they love and what will engage them. Someone editorially experienced in running digital platforms, data driven, well-organised and highly motivated.

As Senior Content Producer you will be leading on the implementation of the website strategy, helping to adapt and shape that strategy based on audience changing behaviours and data insights. You will guide the team on the best way to bring audiences in, build engagement in our Brands and showcase the breadth of the BBC to young audiences. You will use audience trends, data and SEO insights to steer the direction, content, curation and promotional elements of the website.

The BBC is the leading Children's broadcaster in the UK, reaching millions of kids 0-12 each week with some of the biggest and best-loved global brands; from pre-school animations like Hey Duggee and Bluey to stand-out dramas like The Next Step and Jamie Johnson.

Main Responsibilities

You will be reporting into the Content Editor for Games & Platforms and working closely with the games, apps, content impact, social and YouTube teams.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership of the team, motivating and supporting them in delivering maximum impact and value to our audience via the Children’s website platform.
  • Ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood and that all content, and promotional activity is working towards our strategy and achieving our targets.
  • Being data driven, using analytical reports, SEO and audience insights to inform editorial decisions.
  • Working closely with Product colleagues to achieve our shared objectives.
  • Establish and maintain successful processes and workflows.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across Digital, Commissioning, Product and external partners, ensuring excellent communication and collaboration.
  • Management of audience engagement via the website including, comments, user-generated content, and running competitions via our BBC Children’s compliance processes and guidelines.
  • Accountability for the editorial compliance of content and copyright reporting and to ensure BBC standards and guidelines are met.
  • Keeping across the latest Kids trends, insights and industry developments in digital games, websites and platforms that kids are using.

Are you the right candidate?

We are looking for a Senior Content Producer to manage the running of the Children’s Websites. You will inspire staff to create, curate and promote content in ways that deliver maximum value to our audience and maximum impact to the platform.

  • We want someone who is passionate about digital content, platforms and understands digital trends amongst younger audiences. You will be full of creative ideas and hungry to make a difference.
  • You will have strong editorial and strategic skills experienced in managing digital content/platforms for younger audiences. You’ll know what will appeal to kids and how we can use the platform to maximum benefit.
  • You’ll have proven experience of using online analytics and real time data tools to inform effective decision making and to drive results.
  • You’ll also have excellent planning and organisational skills, an eye for detail and high-quality content and copyrighting standards.
  • You’ll be committed to creating a fun and professional environment, ideal for staff to work at their best, and to develop and thrive at work.
  • You will feel comfortable conveying your ideas to a wide range of people across different levels across the business.
  • You'll be able to build productive relationships and communicate successfully with digital teams, stakeholders, departments across the BBC and external partners.
  • You will be able to work effectively with editorial and digital Product teams to achieve our shared objectives.

It’s important that you are passionate about delighting our target audience. If this sounds like you, we’d love to receive an application from you!

About the BBC

The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.

We don’t focus simply on what we do – we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you’ve read about our values and behaviours.

Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.

Please note: If you were to be offered this role, the BBC will conduct Employment screening checks which include Reference checks; Eligibility to work checks; a DBS check and if applicable to the role, Safeguarding and Adverse media/Social media checks. Any offer made is conditional on these checks being satisfactory.
