As Head of AI Engineering, you’ll lead a team tackling real-world challenges with direct impact. Think predictive models that anticipate breakdowns before they happen, intelligent routing to optimise thousands of roadside patrols, and agentic AI that transforms customer service.

As we launch our brand-new AI function, we’re looking for a Head of AI Engineering to develop and deliver the future of intelligent systems at the AA. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground level and define how AI transforms the way we serve our members and support our frontline teams.

What will I be doing?

• Lead & Inspire: Build and mentor a diverse team of AI engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Build the Future: Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions that solve complex problems and deliver tangible value.
• Shape Strategy: Set the technical vision, engineering standards & patterns, and stay ahead of the curve on AI advancements.
• Collaborate Across the Business: Collaborate closely with the Head of AI architecture, as well as the product, design, and business teams, to develop and launch AI-powered products and services.
• Champion Responsible AI: Embed ethical, secure, and privacy-first practices into everything we build.
  
  

What do I need?

• Proficient expertise within software or machine learning engineering, with experience deploying production-grade systems.
• Proven track record in delivering GenAI applications using LLMs and orchestration frameworks.
• Strong Python skills and a solid grasp of modern backend and cloud-native architectures.
• Deep understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience leading engineering teams and working with external partners or vendors.
• A commitment to responsible AI, including fairness, transparency, and security.
