Job Title: Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker
Position Type: Subject to Funding - Starting as a fixed term contract to March 2027
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week plus on-call rota)
Location: Hybrid / Agile Working (following successful completion of a 6-month probationary period)
Salary: £24,054 - £27,344 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Area - Office is based in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
You will cover the South Wales Police areas across the region

As a dedicated and progressive support service, we provide specialist assistance to women and children affected by violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence (VAWDASV). The Role
- Assist service users to keel safe, secure, and supported in their daily lives.
- Access safe, stable, and sustainable housing options.
- Make informed, independent decisions about their future.
- Understand individual trauma and build safe, equal relationships.
- Develop strong, resilient, and independent support networks.
About You
- An IDVA qualification (or equivalent standard) OR demonstrable experience working directly within the domestic abuse/VAWDASV sector.
- A solid, empathetic understanding of the distinct challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse.
- A strong feminist perspective on violence against women and girls (VAWG).
- Proven experience in providing both emotional and practical trauma-informed support.
- Excellent caseload management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A good working knowledge of housing, criminal, civil, and welfare rights as they intersect with domestic abuse.
- Strong crisis-management capabilities and the resilience to handle complex, high-risk situations.
- An appreciation for accurate, timely case notes and robust record-keeping.

Please note: For candidates who hold a fully certified IDVA qualification and possess at least one year of direct experience in an IDVA role, salary offers will be weighted towards the top of the scale.
