Job description

At Prodrive we believe there’s no limit to what can be achieved when the brightest minds come together. Joining one focused and driven team, you will challenge boundaries in order to change the game for our customers. We are the world’s leading independent motorsport company and the business behind some of the greatest names and achievements in motorsport over the last 40 years. Our skilled Technicians, Mechanics, Fabricators and Engineers work together every step of the way to design, build and run elite competition cars on the track and off-road across the globe.

We have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer to be responsible for planning and executing daily quality assurance activities within Motorsport Operations and the Supply Chain, contributing to the delivery of new products and programmes while maintaining and continually improving current programmes and processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring process outputs consistently meet the highest standards and in promoting a culture of excellence across manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities:

Problem Resolution (Plant/Customer/Supplier):

  • Lead investigations using appropriate tools to establish clear root cause(s), and coach team members where appropriate.
  • Implement and validate robust permanent corrective actions.
  • Ensure any critical and high-profile concerns are escalated accordingly.
  • Co-ordinate thorough containment of any non-conforming material when concerns arise, eliminating potential escape routes and ensuring manufacturing and production streams have validated stock available for use.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Work autonomously to drive process improvements, increase efficiency, reduce defects and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to implement Supplier Improvement Plans for underperforming or developing suppliers.
  • Where applicable, maintain the integrity of the integrated Quality and Environmental Management System to support continued certification.

Who are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in a professional quality assurance role within a motorsport or low-volume automotive engineering and manufacturing environment. You will have a strong understanding of core quality tools, and hands-on experience supporting prototype, pre-series and low volume production. With experience leading root cause investigations and delivering sustainable improvements, you will have excellent analytical skills with a data-driven mindset and be able to interpret complex 2D engineering drawings, CAD, and GD&T. You will be experienced in inspection and metrology techniques, with a sound understanding of first principles, and have demonstrable working knowledge of a range of manufacturing methods and commodities, with particular preference for composites, precision machining, milling/turning, surface coatings and electrical systems. The ability to travel domestically is required (averaging one day per week), with occasional international travel as required.

What can we offer you?

  • An attractive salary which will grow in line with your ongoing development and impact
  • 25 days holiday (which increases with long service) with an opportunity to purchase up to 15 extra days
  • Enhanced family friendly policies (including enhanced maternity and paternity pay)
  • Training opportunities for continuing professional development
  • Onsite subsidised staff restaurant
  • Car and pension salary sacrifice schemes
  • Cycle scheme
  • Exercise classes
  • Paid time off for volunteering
  • Consultations with our Fit 4 Life expert
  • Social events throughout the year
  • Exclusive company discounts
  • Life assurance

We are an equal opportunity employer.

At Prodrive we are committed to attracting and nurturing the best talent and creating an inclusive workplace. We value individual differences and diversity amongst all staff so that everyone has the widest opportunities to maximise their potential. We aim to ensure that no job applicant is placed at a disadvantage by practices or requirements which disproportionately impact protected groups, and which are not justified by the demands of the job. If you feel you are right for this role, we welcome your application.
