Help Change the Lives of Vulnerable Children and Families Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a respected Children's Service in Birmingham for a compassionate and dedicated Social Work Assistant.\n
\n
\n This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Social Workers, providing vital support to children, young people and families. You'll play an important role in safeguarding children, supporting assessments, delivering practical interventions and helping families achieve positive outcomes.\n

The Role As a Social Work Assistant, you will support Social Workers in delivering high-quality services that safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people.\n
\n
\n Your responsibilities will include:\n
\n
\n
    \n
  • Supporting allocated casework under the guidance of Social Workers and Team Managers.
  • \n
  • Providing practical day-to-day support to children, young people and their families.
  • \n
  • Gathering, recording and analysing information to contribute towards statutory assessments.
  • \n
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children remains at the heart of all interventions.
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and evidence-based case records using management information systems.
  • \n
  • Preparing reports and communicating effectively with children, families and partner agencies.
  • \n
  • Working closely with education, health, police and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.
  • \n
  • Attending team meetings, reviews and supervision sessions.
  • \n
  • Keeping up to date with safeguarding legislation, policies and best practice.
  • \n
  • Supporting the wider team with additional duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
  • \n
About You To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:\n
\n
\n
    \n
  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable families.
  • \n
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Strong written skills with experience maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • \n
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • \n
  • A proactive, compassionate and child-centred approach to supporting vulnerable children.
  • \n
