Job description

Department:

Customer Planning & Scheduling Salary (£): £, £, Regional Planner

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top % of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we’re equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score — reflecting how much our people love working here.

Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We're looking for an organised, proactive, and customer-focused Planner to join our team at Pride Park. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring operational work is planned effectively, helping our field teams deliver excellent service to customers while making the best use of available resources.

As a Planner, you'll take ownership of a defined region, creating and managing a forward plan that looks up to three months ahead. Working closely with Operations, Scheduling teams, contractors, and other stakeholders, you'll ensure the right work is completed at the right time, balancing customer needs, operational priorities, and performance targets.

If you enjoy solving problems, working with data, collaborating with people, and making a real impact behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Planning & Scheduling

  • Build and maintain effective forward plans for your allocated region, looking up to three months ahead.
  • Ensure plans accurately reflect available resources, skills, operational priorities, and customer needs.
  • Manage workload priorities and work-in-progress activities to support delivery against targets and service levels.
  • Keep SAP data accurate and up to date to support effective planning and scheduling.

Resource & Work Management

  • Take ownership of planning activities and SAP data maintenance across your service area.
  • Coordinate work delivered by contractors and external agencies, ensuring tasks are planned and completed efficiently.
  • Make informed decisions based on workload trends, demand, and capacity data.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work as part of a regional planning team, building strong relationships across the business.
  • Lead and contribute to planning meetings, providing challenge, insight, and practical solutions.
  • Communicate confidently with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers, delivering a high level of service at all times.
  • Support effective use of the regional Genysis telephony system.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Take ownership of the quality and effectiveness of your plans and the impact they have on operational performance.
  • Monitor planning outcomes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Use data and feedback to refine future plans and strengthen performance.
  • Highlight risks, constraints, and potential issues early, working with others to find solutions.

HOW WE WORK

You'll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can balance attention to detail with a broader operational view.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A customer-focused mindset and a proactive approach.
  • The ability to interpret data and use insights to make effective decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when priorities change.
  • Experience using planning, scheduling, or resource management systems.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

HOW WE’LL REWARD AND CARE FOR YOU

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too.

We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live.

Here’s some of our favourites:

  • days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to days per year)
  • Annual bonus scheme (of up to £, per annum based on company performance)
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to % when you contribute
