Job description

Job Description

Here at Single Homeless Project, we're seeking a skilled and dedicated Deputy Team Manager - Young Person's Accommodation to join our team based in Camden. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary starting from £34,127.11 and rising incrementally to £36,947.49 per annum.

\n

We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.

\n

In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.

\n

We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.

\n

Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

\n

We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

\n

About the role:

\n

Every young person deserves more than a roof over their head. They deserve a place where they feel safe, seen and able to imagine a future for themselves.

\n

We are looking for two Deputy Team Managers to join our Ofsted Registered Young Person’s Accommodation Services, with one opportunity in Camden and one in Greenwich. Working alongside the Service Manager, you will help turn our accommodation into places where young people aged 16 and over - including care leavers and young people facing multiple disadvantage - can build trust, discover their strengths and take meaningful steps towards adulthood and independence.

\n

You will be a visible, energising presence in the service, giving staff the guidance, confidence and space they need to deliver exceptional support. From coaching colleagues and strengthening support and safety plans to responding to safeguarding concerns, missing episodes and periods of disengagement, you will help the team remain curious, persistent and ambitious for every young person. You will also make sure preparation for the future starts from day one, creating opportunities for young people to develop practical life skills, reconnect with education or employment and move towards a home of their own.

\n

You will build strong relationships with local authorities and partner agencies, maintain high standards across housing management, health and safety and Ofsted compliance, and make sure young people are not simply consulted but genuinely heard. Their experiences, ideas and ambitions should shape the support they receive and the way the service grows.

\n

This is an opportunity to lead with heart, challenge what could be better and see the difference your leadership makes in young people’s everyday lives. Through reflective practice, ongoing learning and development and hands on management experience, you will continue growing as a leader, with opportunities to progress across Single Homeless Project's (SHP) Young Person’s Services and the wider organisation.

\n

What we're looking for in our Deputy Team Manager - Young Person's Accommodation:

\n
    \n
  • You believe in young people’s potential and know how to build trust, spark confidence and keep going when progress is not straightforward.
  • \n
  • You have experience supervising or developing staff who support young people, including care leavers and those facing multiple disadvantage.
  • \n
  • You understand Ofsted Registered accommodation and can help colleagues turn safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and professional curiosity into meaningful everyday support.
  • \n
  • You are a calm, encouraging and hands-on leader who gives clear guidance, strengthens practice and helps colleagues grow without taking over.
  • \n
  • You bring resilience, fresh ideas and a genuine appetite to develop, using your creativity to open up opportunities for young people to build skills, independence and hope for the future.
  • \n
\n

Our attractive benefits package includes:

\n
    \n
  • A salary increase after successfully completing six month's probationary period
  • \n
  • A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services
  • \n
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),
  • \n
  • A contributory pension scheme: Single Homeless Project will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary
  • \n
  • Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme
  • \n
  • Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work
  • \n
\n

Closing date: Sunday 16th August at midnight

\n

Interview date: Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August at SHP Head Office in Kings Cross

\n

Please note there will be second stage interviews at a Young Person's Service for suitable candidates

\n

This post will require an Enhanced DBS check (processed by SHP) for the successful applicant.

\n

Please note applications are reviewed for AI use in application questions. Applications with insufficient/without current right to work or requiring sponsorship will not be accepted for this role.
