Senior Social Worker - Support & Safeguarding

We are looking for a passionate Senior Social Worker to join our Support & Safeguarding team in Maidenhead for a 12 month fixed term contract. At Achieving for Children, we bring together expertise across Windsor & Maidenhead to deliver better outcomes for children and families. Our commitment to strong practice has been recognised by Ofsted, with a ‘Good’ rating, reflecting the quality and impact of our services. This is a hybrid, full-time role where you will play a key part in safeguarding children, supporting families, and driving positive, lasting change.

About the role

As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload, including complex cases, ensuring children and young people are safeguarded and supported to achieve the best outcomes. You’ll undertake assessments, lead interventions, and work closely with families to create meaningful and sustainable change.

You will also contribute to the wider team by supporting colleagues, offering case consultation, and playing an active role in court processes, including report writing and giving evidence where required. This role offers the opportunity to support the development of others, including less experienced staff and students, while continuing to develop your own professional practice.

About you

You are an experienced and confident social worker who is committed to delivering high-quality practice and making a real difference to children and families. You bring a strong understanding of safeguarding, work collaboratively with others, and use your professional judgement to make informed decisions.

You’ll be someone who reflects on your practice, embraces development opportunities, and thrives in a supportive, team-focused environment.

You will also have:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and active Social Work England registration
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car, as the role involves travel across the borough
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and children’s services frameworks
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and working with children, young people, and families
  • The ability to build strong partnerships and advocate for the voices of those you support
  • Confidence in report writing, record keeping, and presenting information clearly
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and delivering inclusive practice
