SEN Teaching Assistant - Preston

Pay: £105-£115 per day, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only

Spencer Clarke Group is recruiting a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive primary school in Preston. You will provide tailored support to pupils who may have autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, social and emotional needs or challenging behaviour.
The Role
You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to help pupils access learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support
Helping pupils engage with classroom activities
Supporting children with autism, ADHD or communication needs
Using visual timetables, sensory resources and individual support strategies
Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and lunchtimes
Recording progress and communicating with teaching staff
Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
What We Are Looking For
Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is desirable. This may have been gained within a school, nursery, care setting, youth service or through personal experience.
You should be:
Patient, compassionate and reliable
Calm and consistent when managing challenging situations
Confident building positive relationships with children
Able to follow individual education and behaviour plans
Comfortable working closely with teachers and other professionals
Committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Applicants with Teaching Assistant, childcare, care, psychology, youth work or sports coaching experience are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
