Are you a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

\n

We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. The child has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and is non-verbal, requiring consistent support to access learning, communicate effectively and develop socially throughout the school day.

The Role\n

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated support to a Year 1 pupil with autism.
\n
• Use visual aids, communication tools and structured routines to support engagement and learning.
\n
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child while promoting independence.
\n
• Support emotional regulation and help the pupil navigate daily classroom activities.
\n
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised learning strategies.
\n
• Encourage social interaction and inclusion within the classroom environment.
\n
• Monitor progress and provide feedback on the child's development and achievements.
\n

The Ideal Candidate\n

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism.
\n
• Understands the challenges and rewards of supporting a non-verbal child.
\n
• Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience.
\n
• Can adapt communication methods to meet individual needs.
\n
• Has strong observational and behaviour management skills.
\n
• Is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
\n
• Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant childcare qualification (desirable but not essential).
\n
