Surveyor/Senior Surveyor – Valuation & Investment Advisory

The Team
This position sits within a successful and market-leading Valuation & Investment Advisory team, offering a broad and diverse range of valuation and general practice surveying services to both public and private sector clients.
The team advises on a wide variety of instructions, including acquisition and disposal reports, asset valuations, option appraisals, secured lending valuations, credit assessments, alternative use evaluations, portfolio strategy, landlord & tenant matters, overage and expert witness/dispute resolution. All of this is underpinned by strong valuation expertise and detailed knowledge of the property market.
With continued demand from both existing and new clients, the team is entering an exciting period of growth and is looking to appoint a Surveyor / Senior Surveyor to join the business, based in either London or Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated surveyor to take on a varied and challenging workload, delivering valuation-focused advice across a broad range of property sectors. The role will also involve working closely with and supporting more junior members of the team, providing an opportunity to develop your leadership and mentoring skills.

Role Overview
I am looking to speak with an experienced and motivated Surveyor/Senior Surveyor to join the Valuation & Investment Advisory team, working across a diverse mix of public and private sector instructions.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to advise a broad range of UK and international clients across an extensive range of property types, including, but not limited to:
- Major mixed-use and regeneration projects
- Industrial and logistics parks
- Town centre regeneration projects
- Shopping centres and retail warehouse parks
- Prime and value-add office buildings
- Defence property assets
- Schools and educational assets
- Sports stadia and leisure assets
The role provides an excellent balance of valuation, general practice surveying, client advisory and business development, making it particularly well suited to someone looking for variety and the opportunity to broaden their experience.
Key Responsibilities
Valuation & Advisory
- Undertake valuations for investment, development and financial reporting purposes.
- Prepare detailed valuation reports in accordance with the RICS Valuation – Global Standards (Red Book).
- Apply appropriate valuation methodologies and undertake detailed market analysis across a range of property sectors.
- Provide landlord & tenant advice, including rent reviews, lease renewals, lease extensions and lease restructures.
- Provide wider general practice surveying advice where appropriate.
- Attend client meetings and contribute to the development and delivery of client instructions.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Team Collaboration & Development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business to provide comprehensive and commercially focused advice.
- Share knowledge and experience with junior colleagues and contribute to their professional development.
- Support the continued growth and development of the Valuation & Investment Advisory team.
- Take responsibility for your own workload while contributing positively to the wider team environment.
Business Development & Market Engagement
- Contribute to business development activity, including pitches, tenders and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new business.
- Attend client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities to build your professional profile and strengthen relationships.
- Keep up to date with market trends, regulatory developments and wider economic factors affecting the property market.
- Contribute to raising the profile of the team through industry engagement and thought leadership.
What I’m Looking For
I’m looking to speak with candidates who have a strong technical grounding in valuation and a genuine interest in developing their career within a market-leading advisory environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- MRICS qualification and experience undertaking RICS Red Book valuations.
- Strong valuation and general practice surveying experience.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex property and market information.
- Strong report-writing skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The confidence to build relationships with clients and represent the business professionally.
- A commercially minded and strategic approach to problem solving.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple instructions and deadlines.
- A proactive, motivated and collaborative approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing your own workload independently.
- A willingness to support and mentor junior colleagues, with the potential to develop your leadership skills.
- Experience using Excel, Word and Argus Enterprise / Developer would be advantageous.
