Job description

Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.

We'd like you to join us as a Support Worker at our service, Granville Lodge, in Hartlepool.

We have an amazing opportunity for Support Workers to join our caring and support team at our Granville Lodge service in Hartlepool, supporting children and young people who cannot be cared for at home, most commonly because they need a high level of skilled care.

A full clean driving licence and willingness to transport our children and young people in the company minibus would be an advantage but not essential.

We believe Granville Lodge is a special place. It is purposely small, just nine beds, and is located in an adapted Victorian house in a quiet residential street in Hartlepool. Whilst the children staying with us have clinical needs, we have taken great care to ensure our centre still feels like a family home. Children staying with us permanently can decorate their own rooms, just as they can at home, and we encourage our young people, wherever possible, to be part of the running of their home and to try out new experiences.

What you'll be working:

  • 37.5 hours
  • £26,925.34 (FTE) Per annum (Pro rata)
  • Rostered shifts to include days, nights & weekends.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keeping the child’s safety and well-being paramount and at the centre of your practice
  • Build positive relationships with our children and young people, which are open and two-way
  • Support our children and young people to make progress in every area of their lives
  • Contribute towards the planning and delivery of child-centred care plans, working alongside all other agencies involved with the child
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Establish methods of communication with our children and young people, reducing barriers when necessary
  • Assist with mealtimes where necessary
  • Support with activities of daily living and personal care

What you'll have:

  • Driving licence and Diploma Level 3 (CYP) desirable.
  • A genuine interest in providing the best person-centred care possible for our young people
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experience working within the care sector/learning disabilities would be an advantage but not essential
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS

We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. To support this, we are a Disability Confident committed employer.

What to look forward to:

  • 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Birthday off
  • Join the Active Learning Hub and benefit from a wide range of e learning and face to face training and development opportunities
  • Active Reward App giving discounts and savings on your weekly shop
  • Free 24 hour confidential Employee Assistance Programme Helpline & App to support with legal, health, wellbeing, relationship and consumer advice
  • A Nest Personal Pension account
  • Access to join a Medicash Health Plan for you and your family to save money on everyday health essentials – like going to the dentist or opticians
  • We recognise outstanding Active Behaviours via the Active Awards programme
  • Enhanced Sick & Maternity Pay benefits
  • Refer a Friend Scheme and earn yourself up to £1500 by recommending someone you know
  • ……and, of course, the support and guidance of our qualified clinical and business leadership teams so that you can really develop your career with Active Care Group
