Cover Supervisor – Farnborough

September Start | Perfect for Graduates, Aspiring Teachers & Experienced Teachers Seeking Greater Flexibility

Are you a recent university graduate considering a career in teaching? Perhaps you're an unqualified teacher looking to gain valuable classroom experience, or an experienced educator seeking a role with less planning, marking and administrative pressure?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a highly regarded secondary school in Farnborough to start in September. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school recognised for its strong values, inclusive culture, and commitment to helping every student achieve their full potential. The school's ethos, "We Care to Challenge", is built around respect, aspiration, resilience, and encouraging students to become successful citizens in a modern world.

Why Become a Cover Supervisor?

Cover Supervising is one of the most effective routes into teaching and education. You'll gain valuable classroom experience while learning how schools operate, all without the additional responsibilities of lesson planning and marking.

This role is ideal for:

  • University graduates considering teacher training
  • Aspiring teachers preparing for a PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct programme
  • Unqualified teachers looking to build classroom confidence
  • Former teachers wanting to remain in education with a better work-life balance
  • Individuals with backgrounds in coaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or childcare
  • Those seeking full-time or flexible opportunities in schools

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring learning continues effectively and students remain engaged.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Maintaining a calm, positive, and productive learning environment
  • Encouraging student engagement and participation
  • Supporting students to complete lesson objectives
  • Providing additional support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where required
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop classroom management skills and gain meaningful school-based experience.

About the School

This thriving Farnborough secondary school is known for its strong community spirit and commitment to student success. Built on the values of respect and aspiration, the school encourages students to be ambitious, resilient, and inclusive. Students benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum designed to develop academic achievement alongside essential life skills, independence, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

The school also places significant emphasis on diversity, inclusion, student leadership, and personal development, creating an environment where young people feel supported, challenged, and valued.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged students
  • Are confident and adaptable in a classroom setting
  • Can support students with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Are enthusiastic about supporting young people
  • Can remain calm, professional, and organised in a busy school environment

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Full-time opportunities available Monday to Friday
  • Term-time only working pattern
  • 12.07% holiday pay
  • Access to professional development and training opportunities
  • Ongoing support from your dedicated Teaching Personnel consultant
  • Excellent preparation for future teacher training applications
  • Opportunity to gain experience within a successful and supportive secondary school
