12 Month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment Opportunity.

An opportunity has arisen to appoint an officer into the position of Electrical Manager who will be responsible for the delivery and management of Lift Servicing, Lift Breakdowns, Lift Renewal, and the replacement of Major Lift Components.

The key responsibilities of the Service Manager will be to Manage the day to day delivering of a monthly Lift Service programme, lift breakdowns and trappings; Make sure that the contractor(s) adheres to the lift breakdown and trappings times as per the contract; Deliver lift modernisation and refurbishment programme and therefore able to apply project and contract management skills in the delivery of such programmes. From the development stage to delivery of the works and final handover; Monitor contractor’s KPI performance as well as ensure that all lift works are carried out to a high standard and to the expectation of the council, leadership team and residents; Lead and conduct meetings with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates and process in the right communication types that will suit the attending audience; Monitor budgets including forecasting future spend and controlling overspends for both lift repairs and lift modernisation/refurbishment programmes; Manage staff in relation to work allocation, performance and development; Write up reports such as notes from minutes, reports; Work within a team and are able to engage productively with their fellow colleagues and Build positive relationships with contractors and consultants in order to deliver a healthy and positive lift service across the borough.

You need to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Lift Industry including the relevant regulations, guidelines, and legislation as well as practical experience delivering Lift maintenance programmes, dealing with day-to-day lift repairs and from time to time carry out lift inspections.

Having some experience and knowledge in procuring lift contracts is desirable however not essential. However, you should have an understanding and knowledge of the impact of the new regulations such as the Building Safety Act, is having on the delivery of the lift service now and in the future.

The candidate must have the relevant NVQ3 Lift & Escalator professional qualifications including EOR/202 Basic Lift Safety and EOR/205N Basic Service Lift Safety qualifications. As well as a relevant project and/or contract management qualification.

You will be required to inform, advise, and respond to residents, as a group or on an individual basis as well as liaise and negotiate with interested parties e.g. contractors, developers, or professionals from other multidisciplinary areas. It is therefore essential that you have good communication skills, verbally as well as written and to be able to use the correct professional language when addressing different types of key stakeholders.

You must also have a good knowledge and understanding of creating and making use of spreadsheets in order to aid the delivery of lift programmes, budget and for monitoring purposes. It would be desirable for you to be able to use google accounts, not essential as you will be taught how to use this format.
