We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is perfect for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children overcome learning barriers in a nurturing and structured environment.

Your Role: As a Learning Support Worker, you will assist the Teacher in preparing lessons and independently lead small groups of children in activities. You'll help with classroom tasks and contribute to creating a caring and inclusive space where every child feels safe, valued, and eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to students facing mental health challenges, helping them engage in learning and boost their confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.
  • Offer emotional and behavioural support through de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering a steady, reassuring presence.
  • Assist students in small group or one-on-one settings as needed.
  • Help facilitate fun and educational lessons across various subjects.
  • Support the social, emotional, and academic growth of each child.
  • Work closely with the lead teacher to ensure the highest standards of education.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults with mental health needs, additional learning needs (ALN), or in a pastoral/support role is highly preferred. We find that individuals with a background in mental health support or youth work thrive in this role.
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic demeanour, with the ability to earn the trust of students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to various situations.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about teaching young children.
  • Previous experience in education is preferred but not required.
  • Caring, patient, and dedicated to nurturing the potential of every student.
  • A positive role model who fosters strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating and welcomes new ideas.
