GSL Education are seeking a passionate and inspiring Teacher of English to work in secondary schools and specialist provisions across Scarborough from September.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated English Teacher to inspire young people through the study of literature and language while making a positive impact on students' confidence, communication, and academic achievement. In addition to mainstream secondary schools, there are opportunities to work within specialist provisions, supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, including SEND, SEMH, and communication needs, in nurturing and inclusive learning environments.

About the Role

As a Teacher of English, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate.
• Foster a love of reading, writing, and communication through creative and inclusive teaching.
• Create a positive classroom environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
• Assess, monitor, and support student progress, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and pastoral teams to promote high standards of teaching and learning.
• Maintain effective classroom management and uphold high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
• Adapt your teaching approach to support students in both mainstream secondary schools and specialist education settings where required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A commitment to raising achievement and supporting all learners to succeed.
• A flexible and adaptable approach, with an interest in working across both mainstream and specialist provisions.
• Experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH would be advantageous but is not essential.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
